Job Description

The Oracle DBA has primary responsibility for installation, configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, performance tuning, maintenance, support and enhancements to the Oracle database environments within online business environment. He/She will be responsible for creating and maintaining the strategy for Oracle database upgrades, backups (using RMAN) and patching. Other responsibilities includes:
  • Maintain database performance by monitoring space, CPU usage, fragmentation of data, and by tuning queries, setting alerts, etc. 

  • Provide trending reports on the capacity, performance and usage on a monthly basis. 

  • Develop SQL reports to provide data on IT internal systems for performance and scorecard measurements. 

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, tune and perform upgrades, where necessary. 

  • Create and implement a strategy for patching Oracle databases, Java and web server. 

  • Work with application owners to migrate databases from one release to the next, as necessary. 

  • Work with application owners to migrate database changes into test, acceptance, and production environments. 

  • Work with security team to establish standards and policies to ensure enterprise information assets are properly secured and protected by appropriate access management and privacy controls. 

  • Develop, communicate, and carry out procedures designed to facilitate recovery from database failure, such as online backups, archiving, and exports 

  • Plan, document and provide support for Disaster Recovery of the Oracle database environments. 

  • Document system configurations, support processes and procedures.

Mentor and cross-train peers as required to fill support gaps.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Intermediate with minimum 50 percent marks. The candidates with domicile and having actually been studying in Balochistan, FATA, District Kohistan, Chitral, Dir, Tehsil Bala Kot (Kaghan, Naran) of District Mansehara in NWFP, Tharparker and Tehsil UmerKot in Sind, District Rajanpur, area of Cholistan, Desert Drawer Fort, Salamsar, Mojgarh, Dingarh of Punjab and Northern Areas, can appear with 45% marks.
NOTE1:
Candidates who have passed part-I of Intermediate examination with minimum 50% marks and have appeared/appearing in Supplementary of part-II/final examination and whose result will be announced by 30 Mar 09, can also apply subject to provision of original part-I marks sheets alongwith “Hope Certificate” by the head of College/University that they have good chance of passing the final examination with minimum 50% marks. Such candidates will deposit their original part-II certificate/mark sheets alongwith 4x attested copies to GHQ PA Dte, PA-3(a) latest by 10 Apr 09 otherwise their selection will not be processed further.

A candidate can register himself through Internet on our http://www.joinpakarmy.gov.pk/ for preliminary test. Date and time of test shall be intimated on the internet, for that individual should have anE-mail account.Candidates MUST attain working knowledge of computer as registration and tests will be conducted on computers. Computerized National Identity Card or Computerized Form “B” alongwith Guardian of Computerized National Identity Card (Father or Mother).
2 x Colour Photos duly attested by Principal/Class 1 Gazetted Officer.

Old National Identity Card and Form “B” will not be accepted. Original and 1x photocopy of Inter Services Selection Board “ NOT RECOMMENDED” letter is also required for “Repeater” Candidates.
PRELIMINARY SELECTION.
The candidates declared successful in written/intelligence tests will have physical, medical tests and preliminary interview at AS&RCs
FURTHER SELECTION.
Candidates qualifying preliminary selection will be sent to ISSB for further tests. Medical examination of ISSB recommended candidates will be carried out at nearby CMHs. The final selection will be made at GHQ on the basis of candidate’s overall performance.
INELIGIBILITIES
Screened out twice by ISSB.
Rejected twice by ISSB/GHQ Selection & Review Board.
Declared medically unfit by an Appeal Medical Board (Army).
Enrolled Cadets withdrawn/resigned/discharged/dismissed from Armed Forces (Army, Navy & Air Force) training academies/institutions on the grounds of discipline, character, failure in academics/military subjects, medical, inefficiency, weak profile and any other unsuitability grounds or received character certificate “fair”.
An individual dismissed/removed from other Government services.
Convicted by a Court of Law for an offence involving moral turpitude.
PAKISTAN NATIONALS RESIDING ABROAD
Eligible candidates residing abroad are exempted from Preliminary Selection. However, Defence Attaches are requested to ascertain their overall suitability, physical deformity and stammering aspects. The candidates are advised to approach Pakistani Embassies (Military/Defence Attaches) in the country where residing or Personnel Administration Directorate PA-3(a), GHQ Rawalpindi, for issue of application forms only.They will submit their application forms alongwith connected documents through Pakistani Embassies by 10 Jul 2008. A postal order of Rs. 100/- and a bank draft of Rs. 500/- in the name of Director Personnel Administration-1, Personnel Administration Directorate, GHQ Rawalpindi will be attached with the application form. Postal address in Pakistan should also be indicated in the application forms so that call up notice for ISSB Tests/Interview and further correspondence to eligible candidates can be made on the given Pakistani address. No travelling allowance will be admissible. Upon final selection candidates with dual nationality will have to surrender nationalities other than Pakistani.
PRIVATE COACHING CENTRES FOR ISSB TESTS.
According to existing rules of Armed Forces, Pre-ISSB training cannot be imparted by any individual or private coaching centre. GHQ PA Directorate denies any link with such illegal & unethical training establishments throughout the country. Any candidate found trained/coached in any private coaching centre will be liable to be not recommended

b. Previously declared medically unfit by an Appeal Medical Board/Combined Medical Board (CMB for only pilot in Army Aviation) for Army, Navy, PAF.
c. Released or discharged or withdrawn from the Armed Forces or any of its training establishments on grounds of inefficiency or indiscipline.
d. Convicted by Court of Law for an offence involving moral turpitude.

e. All candidates will deposit their particulars on Printed Form PAFY-2023 obtained from the Recruitment Centre alongwith following document after registration:-
i.Three attested copies of passport size photographs.

iii.2 x Photocopies of National Identity Card issued by NADRA.
iv.Rs. 200/- in cash and postal order of Rs. 100/- in favour of Director General Personnel Administration (DGPA), GHQ Rawalpindi. Pay Order/Bank Draft will not be accepted.
v.Candidates serving in Government Institutions/Departments will render no objection certificate from the concerned Establishment alongwith the documents listed above.
vi.Candidates must take along their Original Certificates/Degree on the day of examination to the Recruitment Centres.
f. Candidates qualifying in preliminary selection shall under-go ISSB tests. Separate calls letters shall be issued to the candidates for the purpose.
g. Candidates declared successful by the ISSB shall be put through medical examination at Military Hospitals closer their home stations.
h. Merit list of all successful candidates who are declared medically fit shall be prep. Final selection shall be made by the GHQ on the basis of over all performance of candidates.

7. PRIVATE COACHING TRAINING CENTRES FOR ISSB TESTS.. According to the existing rules pre ISSB training cannot be imparted by any individual or private coaching centre, GHQ PA Directorate denies any link with such illegal & unethical training establishments throughout the country. Any candidate found trained/coached by any private coaching centre will not be recommended.
8. BOND. Selected candidates will be required to sign a bond to serve the Army for a minimum period of 7 years. The applicability of bond will commence on successful completion of Basic Military Training (BMT).
9. BASIC MILITRY TRAINING. Selected candidates will undergo six months basic military training at PMA Kakul.
10. GRANT OF COMMISSION. On Successful completion of BMT at PMA Kakul, Candidates will be granted commission in the Army.
11. PREVIOUS TESTS. Unsuccessful candidates of previous selection schedules can also apply subject to fulfilling eligibility conditions listed above.
